The petrol cost calculator multiplies three numbers you can see: the kilometres of the trip, the kilometres the vehicle does on one litre, and the rupees charged for that litre. Litres are distance divided by economy. Cost is litres times the price. Cost per kilometre is the price divided by the economy, which is why a small change in kilometres per litre moves the trip more than people expect. One hundred kilometres at 15 kilometres a litre is 6.67 litres. At the petrol price stored here that is a cost you can recompute by hand. The stored prices are the OGRA price publication effective 16 October 2026 at 00:00 hours. The OGRA fuel portal lists that publication among the October 2026 notices. The build-up for the day, which is the table this site read, puts petrol, sold as motor spirit, at Rs 390.23 per litre, and high speed diesel at Rs 396.96 per litre. Both totals are marked as excluding secondary freight, the cost of moving the product from the oil-marketing company's depot to the individual pump. A station can therefore differ from the published total by that freight. If the board at the station shows another number, type it. The select box only fills the published total. The petrol build-up is worth reading once so the Rs 390.23 is not a mysterious round figure. Ex-refinery or import price in that table is Rs 279.45 per litre. Inland freight equalisation margin is Rs 7.93, the oil-marketing-company margin is Rs 7.87, and the dealer margin is Rs 9.98. Those four pieces bring the price before the levies to Rs 305.23. Petroleum levy is Rs 80. Climate support levy is Rs 5. Sales tax in that publication is zero, the line saying petrol is exempted. Adding the levies to Rs 305.23 produces Rs 390.23. The table also shows the exchange rate used inside the build-up, a seven-working-day average of Rs 277.12 to the dollar, and it warns that the full effect of a daily international move is passed on across seven working days. This calculator does not rebuild that formula. Diesel in the same publication is a different build-up that lands on the same shape of answer. The price before the levies is Rs 311.96. Petroleum levy is again Rs 80 and the climate support levy is Rs 5, so the price before sales tax is Rs 396.96. Sales tax is zero on that line as well, and the total excluding secondary freight stays Rs 396.96. Dealer margin and the oil-marketing-company margin match petrol at Rs 9.98 and Rs 7.87. Inland freight equalisation on diesel in that table is Rs 4.71, not the petrol figure. Switching the select box from petrol to diesel replaces Rs 390.23 with Rs 396.96 and recalculates the trip. Hi-octane, kerosene and light diesel oil are not given defaults. They were not the two totals locked for this page. If you need one of them, leave the price box on whatever fuel you selected and type the litre price from the current publication or from the pump. A typed price is the price the maths uses, which is also how you handle the day after OGRA issues the next notice. The version date on the calculator is 19 October 2026, three days after the publication, and it will be wrong as soon as the following notice is the one on the portal. Economy is the number this site will not invent. A factory figure for a car, a tank-to-tank check, or the trip computer are all better than a national average that does not exist in the OGRA table. The default of 15 kilometres a litre is only a starting point so the page is not blank. City traffic, a roof load, air-conditioning and a motorway speed all change it, and the calculator cannot see them. If you leave economy at zero or blank, the result is zero rather than a made-up consumption. Distance is whatever the trip is. Nothing on this page is a tax calculator. Petroleum levy and the climate support levy are already inside the published litre price. You do not add them again. Sales tax being zero in the 16 October build-up is a fact about that publication, not a promise about a later month. Provincial or federal charges that are not in the litre price are not added, because they were not in the table. The car-tax calculator on this site is advance income tax under sections 231B and 234. It has nothing to do with a tank of petrol. The property-tax calculator is sections 236C and 236K. A longer journey scales in a straight line, which is right only while the price and the economy stay constant. A fortnightly OGRA revision breaks the price assumption.
